Blood Pressure Cuff
Prototyping 101
In this class, I was tasked with taking apart a blood pressure cuff and reconstructing it using prototyping techniques. I started with sketching and went through all the steps of prototyping from creative thinking, modeling, and building to achieving a final reconstructed blood pressure cuff.
Isometric Drawings
Here I learned the basics of sketching to further help with the design process of what would be an eventual blood pressure cuff. Using the skills I was taught I drew an exploded view of a cochlear implant

Orthographic and Perspective Sketches
Created a 3-D drawing of the blood pressure cuff and housing unit for future reference.

Foam Core Watch
Created a foam core model of a watch scaled by 1.5 inches to better show the fine details. In this project, I learned how to better create prototype models in preparation for the blood pressure monitor prototype.

Blood Pressure Monitor Creative Exploration
Used creative thinking skills to prototype a new ideation of a medical device to track blood pressure.

Laser Cut Arm Cuff
Learned laser cutting to cut nylon for the blood pressure cuff.

Vacuum Molded Package
I created a package for the housing unit to hold cuff components.

Turned Internal Motor
I learned how to use a lathe to turn a pice of denin into a prototype model of the motor inside the cuff housing.

Finished Blood Pressure Monitor Housing
Using 3-D printing I created a housing model and then sanded it down and painted it to my according to the blood pressure cuff I took apart earlier.

Final Protoype
Now that I have all the necessary components for the prototype I constructed a scaled model of the cuff.

Isometric Drawings
Created isometric view drawings to better showcase a prototype for foam-core modeling.

BOM, Exploded View, Knolled Phtography
Used photography skills to keep track of all components for prototyping.

Foam Core Blood Pressure Monitor
Created a prototype rendering of the blood pressure monitor using our sketches.

3D Printed Internal Motor
Learned 3-D printing skills to continue prototyping the blood pressure cuff.

Sewed Arm Cuff Prototype
In this project, I sewed the nylon that I laser cut together to create a new working cuff with components from the actual cuff.

Silicone Molded Cathedral of Learning
In this project, I learned silicone molding that can be used for prototyping many different things. I learned how to make the mold housing and the steps to achieve a good mold.
Milled LCD Display
I learned how to use a mill to create a prototype of the LCD screen for the cuff.

LCD Display Prototype
Using vinyl cutting I used a design of an LCD screen to show a "working screen" to be placed in the housing model. I transferred the vinyl letters to acrylic which is used as a screen cover.
